Filipe Restaurant is located on the seafront, half walls with Sesimbra’s beach, the “Pearl of the Portuguese Côte d’Azur”. In 1986 the historic cafe has evolved into restaurant. In the natural line of succession of life, it moved from father to son, maintaining as a reference for quality and good service. The owner Pedro Filipe has over three decades of experience and dedication, managing the business with the same energy he started with.
At the height of recession, when unfortunately many historical sites were forced to close their doors, Filipe Restaurant continued to invest in its infrastructure, keeping this guideline in order to offer its customers the comfort inherent in a unique gastronomic experience.
“Filipe’s” history intersects with the village history, where once, they could see from the current panoramic balcony, the “traditional beach fish market” – the fish market selling in full areal. The fish were arranged parallel and with great care, performing a magnificent design worthy of a wall frame.
It was here in the “Largo da Marinha”, former “Largo dos Valentes” that everything happens and the business took place around the fish auction sale. It was and is the centre of Sesimbra, and it was here that the current restaurant stood up and keep up to today.
